Sex Brain Body Educational Toolkit

The Sex Brain Body: Make the Connection educational toolkit helps you better understand female sexual health, and offers a comprehensive look at Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, or HSDD, a type of female sexual dysfunction. You’ll learn helpful tips about talking to your partner and your health care provider about your sexual health as well as any issues you may be experiencing, including HSDD.

The toolkit is composed of the following materials:

  • Welcome disc
  • Brochure
  • Flashcards
  • Privacy sign
  • Sexual Satisfaction Checklist
  • Tips to start the conversation
  • Note card

We suggest you start with the welcome disc, which includes an introduction on sexual health from Dr. Kellogg-Spadt, clips from Discovery Channel’s exciting new documentary on the brain-body connection, and a tool that will introduce you to ways to discuss your sexual health more comfortably.

Once you’re done with the disc, move on to the brochure. This provides information on female sexual health, female sexual dysfunction and the connection between the brain, body and desire.

After you’ve read the brochure, take a look at the flashcards. Consider using them with your partner or your friends, and learn about your own body along the way. Once you’re done, you may feel inclined to hang the included privacy sign on your door knob when you and your partner would like some time alone.

Next, we’ve provided you with a Sexual Satisfaction Checklist, which you can use to help start a conversation about sexual desire and satisfaction with your partner. Many women have a difficult time starting this conversation with anyone, so we’ve also included some “tips to get you started,” which you can use with your partner or health care provider.

And finally, to help you get the most from your next visit with your health care provider, we’ve included a note card you can take to your appointment. Write down any questions or concerns you have about your sexual health and make sure they get addressed.
